Cowaramup Primary School

Cowaramup Primary School is always looking for ways to provide its students with the best possible opportunities and, after engaging with their growing community, settled on school owned Apple iPads with Mobile Device Management (MDM) for their students.

 

After implementing the devices, the school faced some challenges with utilising the technology. There were issues with keeping the iPads up to date, receiving apps from MDM, constant prompts for access to iCloud, and the students being able to edit the device configuration. They also found, when using the devices, their entire network would slow down significantly, crippling their ability to operate.

 

The school reached out to their local Apple Consultants, Computer West, allowing them to access assistance from an Apple Solutions Education Expert to resolve these issues. As a result, an array of IT equipment and services were supplied, including an Apple caching server, which removed the network slowness, a wireless audit, and a bulk purchase of iPads on finance which were automatically provisioned to the school via DEP. Becoming a managed education customer, the school’s iPads were migrated to the MDM solution JAMF School, with professional learning provided to demonstrate capability and use of this solution as a teaching and learning tool. These devices are now fully managed, meaning that all updates, settings and app provisioning is completed for the school to keep device-use hassle free. CW also provides warranty and insurance assessments, as required, to keep the school’s fleet of 100 iPads operating.

 

Forming a working relationship with Computer West, Cowaramup Primary School happily changed over from notebooks to iPads as their primary every-day device. Students are excited to use the shared iPads when they are rostered to do so and engage with them well. The school is confident that the devices will always work and finds the well organised Home screens makes the iPads easy to navigate.

 

Staff feel they can ask Computer West any network, technology, Apple or pricing questions and receive a prompt, logical and extensive response. Apps can be requested and deployed within a 24-hour turn-around time and the school has found the team to go above and beyond expectations when troubleshooting and resolving school-based issues, with warranty and insurance matters dealt with quickly, requiring minimal input from the school.

 

Cowaramup Primary School are able to use the iPads with creative confidence, with Computer West’s services and support promoting the school’s values to ‘Be Respectful, Be Resilient, Be Your Best’. Students can focus on positive educational experiences, feeling connected to the community in which they live, to give them the best opportunities to reach their potential.
