Computer West has a long-standing relationship with Apple and works closely with the Apple Education team to provide educators with the tools to use technology within the classroom; igniting creativity within every student. As a proud member of the Apple Consultants Network, we are an approved Apple authorised education reseller and can offer professional services and solutions to teachers, students and schools; from device purchasing, to enrolment, integration and management.

At the heart of everything Apple does is a single vision: to create amazing products that enrich people’s lives. It shapes not only what they make, but how it’s made and what they care about. Apple technology is designed to give students new ways to experience and demonstrate their learning – no matter what type of learners they are.

Procurement

Apple creates products designed to inspire the minds of teachers and students.

With Apple hardware and software in the hands of students, the work they need to do becomes the work they love to do. Students love iPad because it can be whatever they need it to be. It helps them explore topics in new ways, and to discover new skills with a multi-touch experience that’s interactive and engaging.

Packed with power, Mac helps students and teachers tackles the most ambitious projects, fuelling them with confidence to take on any assignment.

BYOD & Finance

To assist schools with incorporating technology into the classroom, Computer West offers a BYOD program as well as finance options. The program allows parents to purchase devices for their children, optionally over a period of time; enabling the student to participate in learning activities that involve the use an iPad, as well as its apps and features.

To make it even easier, we liaise with each participating school to create and provide a BYOD bundle that the school recommends for student use. These supported products can be located on our online portal for parents to purchase. Having partnered with various providers, we are also able to offer great rates on finance contracts for use by anyone; parent, teacher, or school.

Integration & Mobile Device Management

Before Apple products can be put into the hands of students and teachers, a method of management should be considered and Computer West has the knowledge and capability to provide education institutions with a powerful, yet simple, solution to manage and maintain their iOS and macOS devices.

Jamf School is the mobile device management tool that we recommend and supports; a comprehensive, easy to use, and affordable system that allows schools to quickly and easily manage iPads and Mac products.

Restrict and configure device use for different purposes, control student access to certain sites, apps, and features; distribute apps to a single device, or an entire device group; managing everything involved from anywhere.

With Jamf School, you can also see extensive device details, remotely remove passcodes as required; as well as prepare certain apps and webpages as a lesson to easily guide students within the classroom.

Computer West is a certified Jamf School reseller and has completed the relevant technical training required for integration.

Apple School Manager

Once you’ve got the devices and a management method, you’re almost ready to get started. The final piece of the puzzle is Apple School Manager (ASM) which is used to create accounts to give students access to learning content, while meeting the privacy needs of the school. ASM links your DEP-enrolled Apple devices, and school directory data (users and groups), automatically with the MDM solution so that you can start taking advantage of everything Apple devices have to offer in the classroom.

Apple Teacher

Apple Teacher is a free professional learning program designed to support and celebrate educators using Apple products for teaching and learning. The program is open to all educators and is a great way for schools and districts to offer free professional learning that their staff can work through together. Computer West can help schools get started with Apple Teacher and provide support along the way too.

Updates, Installation & Support

Integrating technology into an education institution can be frustrating and complicated, especially when it is the responsibility of staff members at the school to setup, configure, and maintain devices that are implemented as teaching and learning tools. As a result, Computer West has created its Education Technology Program (ETP) which is a managed agreement designed for public or private schools.

Our designated education team will manage the mobile devices for an affordable monthly fee so that schools don’t have to. Instead of having to focus on the tools required to teach, staff can focus on teaching. This service includes but is not limited to updating devices to the latest operating system, assisting with purchasing apps through the Volume Purchasing Program (VPP), and deploying them to devices.

Device Trade-in

When a device doesn’t qualify for a warranty repair, or it’s simply time to be out with the old and in with the new – you can trade-in your old device(s) for store credit to use towards purchasing new equipment, with finance options available to help spread the cost. This buyback program is available to schools, individuals and businesses.

Insurance

We can also provide insurance quotes on broken or damaged equipment to assist when you need to make a claim. If you have any damaged or faulting goods that you want covered by insurance, we’ll write up an assessment report and quote, working with the insurance company to help you get the item replaced as soon as possible.

Training & Professional Learning

Computer West can tailor training to suit your needs. We can demonstrate how to use Jamf School, Apple School Manager, Apple Teacher as well as any apps you request. As far as Apple Professional Learning is concerned, we outsource curriculum-based learning to the specialists, however, we can facilitate and coordinate that service.

We have partnered with two Apple Professional Learning Specialists, Lumos Learning and Blueprint Learning, who can provide an array of Apple PL as well as other services that may be of interest to schools. Lumos Learning can assist you with strategic planning for technology implementation, 1:1 iPad and MacBook programs, in-class coaching, ICT team development and more. Similarly, Blueprint Learning provides practical training, tailored workshops and 1:1 coaching to meet the needs of your educators at their point of practice. Here are two examples of sessions these certified Apple Professional Learning Specialists can conduct:

Everyone Can Code

Everyone Can Code introduces students to coding through interactive puzzles, playful characters and activities for both in and out of the classroom. With the fun Swift Playgrounds app, along with helpful guides, anyone can start coding in Swift while building essential problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Everyone Can Create

Everyone Can Create gives students the tools to develop and communicate their ideas through drawing, music, video and photography with iPad. It gives teachers projects to bring creativity to every subject, and parents new ways to engage with their children and nurture skills for learning and beyond.
